As Early Childhood Educators the staff at Kid’s Cottage Daycare Society believe in creating an environment that fosters the development of the whole child. A safe, clean, and enjoyable environment that enables the child to grow socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and creatively. Staff thrive to teach children to be inclusive and aware of the cultural aspects in the centre and, through programing,
gain independence, dignity and respect for themselves and others. The children are listened to, given choices and have the opportunity to see their choices put into action.

 

Each child is a unique individual and should be treated as such. Our goal is to help the children learn more about themselves and the world around them through age and developmentally appropriate play experiences. We believe in providing a play-based curriculum that will give the children opportunities to make their own choices and learn from their achievements and consequences. The environment is set
up with age appropriate and readily accessible materials and equipment, and the children are encouraged to use all their senses and abilities to experiment, explore and learn through dramatic play, science, socials, math, art and literature. Creating a set and stage that simulates real life, helps the children to adapt to the reality of everyday life. As early Childhood Educators we strive to create a
comfortable environment in which the children feel safe and free to gain the self confidence needed to excel in all areas of development.

 

We believe that it is important to work side by side with our families, and the community, in order to create a sense of pride and belonging. We understand that parents are the experts on their child, and we depend on their input and information in order to create the best care suited for their child. Working together will promote confidence, respect, and self esteem between staff, parents and the children.

Consistent routines, opportunities and activities will allow the child’s interest and desires to thrive while having fun. As Early Childhood Educators our main goal is to work together to develop a child who learns respect for life, others, and themselves as well as a love for learning.
