Programs
Kid’s Cottage Daycare Society is a play-based centre that uses monthly theme calendars to nurture and educate each child in our care. We believe that the children thrive in an environment that is safe, secure, predictable, nurturing, and supportive. Our objective is to help children learn the social skills they need to resolve conflicts and learn in a socially acceptable way.
Infant Toddler Program
Our infant toddler program consists of 8 full time spaces, ages 0- 36 months, with a ratio of one staff member to every 4 children. All staff in this room have their Infant/Toddler Certification as well as their first aid and valid criminal record check. The program is balanced with daily inside and outside play. Staff thrive to nurture and educate the children by getting down to their level and being involved in group play and one on one activities. Our main objective in the IT room is to nurture the whole child, giving them basic tools so that they can learn and excel in self help skills while encouraging language development and the understanding of basic cognitive concepts.
Group Daycare Program
Our Group Daycare Program consists of 25 spaces, ages 30 months to school age, with a ratio of one staff member per 8 children. While these are primarily full-time spaces, part time is available at times. All staff in this room have a minimum of their Early Childhood Certificate as well as their first aid and valid criminal record check. The program also consists of a balance of indoor and outdoor play. Staff provide a well-balanced program with both active and quiet time, large and small group activities. Circle time and pre-k skills are a part of our daily program. Our main objective in the daycare room is to nurture the whole child and help them develop the basic cognitive and social skills they need for
kindergarten. Bi-weekly dance and monthly Yoga classes are a part of our monthly program from September to June.
Before and After School Age Program (OSC)
Our OSC program consists of 30 full time and part time spaces, kindergarten thru grade 5, with a ratio of one staff member per 10 children (or one staff to twelve children if grade 2 and up). All staff in this room have a minimum of 40 hours of Childhood Development course as well as their first aid and valid criminal record check. Children in this program attend school at Riverview Park Elementary and our staff are certified to drive the two 15-seater vans. There is also a walking club to encourage physical fitness. During the school year our program consists of a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, a short group time and lots of free play to encourage positive choices and foster appropriate social skills and acceptance. During the school breaks this age group explores the local area through many fieldtrips and excursions.
